WOW! Chris @bohlguy Bohlin really knocked this one out of the park, and we got an intimate look into the process.

“Motherboard” was a big step forward for Bohlin in my opinion. He has been developing his unique style for years, with new features and techniques popping up here and there. This bold beauty combines many of those explorations into one, as well as bravely executes new aesthetic elements. A motherboard is “a printed circuit board containing the principal components of a computer or other device, with connectors into which other circuit boards can be slotted.” This piece was the connector, the conduit of many different techniques:

•NEW: CMYK/B&W grids peeking out (example on top left)

•NEW: gridded dot arrays

•Swoops: double layered, doing a rainbow swoop followed by a second B&W swoop overtop (and vice versa)

•Lack of “landscape”, only floating shapes (à la Kandinsky) seen in his “Double Slit Experiment” series

•Wigged out gradient bar done upside down
