2020, 18” x 24” Acrylic on Canvas

Witnessing Wasso work his way forward in his explosive painting career has truly been a pleasure and an inspiration! The up and comer of the ages in my eyes, @mint_beastwood completed his first acrylic painting in December 2018, took a class on oils in February 2019, as well as a 2 week intensive with @daniel.mirante in April ‘19. He has been off to the races since!!!

Wasso Kozlina IV and I are the classic story of instant internet homies; an old paintball friend of mine, @theheadydolphin reached out to point Wasso’s work out to me. I realized I was already following and seeing massive growth. From our first messages back and forth, I knew I had connected with an absolute gem of a human. The paintball community is very small and niche, full of fascinating people that tend to communicate well, quite similar to the visionary art scene. When I find those that have their feet planted in both, it’s always a friend for life!

For his first official gallery release, Kozlina IV went allllll in. Transmission sent... and when I received this piece from Pittsburgh, I knew we had a supreme talent in the house that has me tasting the color and seeing the music! syn·es·the·sia

/ˌsinəsˈTHēZHə/ “Greek syn for “together” and the root aisthe for “to feel.” A perceptual phenomenon in which stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway leads to involuntary experiences in a second sensory or cognitive pathway.” The sweet and sour palette is so juicy, with a thick varnish that makes the colors jump right off the canvas! His musical take on the concept weaves biomech aesthetics into the sci-fi landscape.🪗Ancient alien ruins, analogous of Stonehenge, set the scene for sound and sight to intertwine:

•The stone figures form a plasma-spewing vinyl needle, blasting data into the extraterrestrial slip mat

•Brilliantly highlighted keys are tucked in amongst sparks and wrap around the central composition, balanced opposite by bubbles

•The satellite dish seems to be concentrating this data, sending out this song of senses in a brilliant neon ray
